Drink Recipes for Episode #01: Halloween Hpnotist & Zoe Grimm Reaper

Drrrrrrinks! What’s an adult Halloween party without good drinks?

During EP #01, I recommended two drinks: the Halloween Hpnotist and the Zoe Grimm Reaper.

I discovered the Halloween Hpnotist through about.com and, after trying it for myself, absolutely had to share with others. It is a great drink to serve at a party, and it’s simple to mix up.

Halloween Hpnotist
  • 2 parts Hpnotiq liqueur
  • 1 part vodka
  • Splash of lemon juice
On about.com, they suggest garnishing the drink with a glowstick. That does certainly up the ‘wow’ factor of the drink’s look, but I’m not a fan of inedible garnishes so I opt for garnishing this drink with a cherry.

Whenever I make my own cocktails, I go by taste. (Exact measurements are for pansies.) But I’ve made and drank the Zoe Grimm Reaper on a few different occasions, and these are the proportions I tend to stick to:

Zoe Grimm Reaper
  • 1 part Vodka
  • 1 part Gin
  • ½ part Tequila
  • ½ part Triple Sec
  • ½ part Simple Syrup
  • Squirt of freshly squeezed lemon juice
For an added treat, serve the Zoe Grimm Reaper over blood red, blood orange ice cubes. To make the cubes:
  • Juice a bag of blood oranges. (Optional: add some black or red food coloring to the juice to intensify the color.)
  • Pour blood orange juice into ice cube trays and place in the freezer until frozen (approx. 8 hours).

  1. Glowsticks bring back too many memories "Zoe"? ;)

  2. Naturally I'd get a comment from YOU.

If memory serves me correctly, you were just as much of a glowstick-loving raver wildchild during our undergrad days.

I've got 5 costumes for Halloween day into night this year, including Starfire of DC Comics and a femme 10th Doctor of Doctor Who. If you want to know the others... you'll have to visit me on Halloween.

P.S. What the heck's up with your link? You don't OWN that site!
