Q: Did you plan on another vices episode being released for the weekend of 4/20? Or did that happen by chance? - Connor
A: It was indeed deliberate, Connor. We couldn't resist discussing 420 for 4/20.
Q: Can you do an episode on beer? - anonymous
A: Heck yeah... sounds like my kind of episode. I think it'd require a lot of "research" (code word for Karly, Kit, and I trying all the updated boilermakers recently discussed on bostonmagazine.com).
Q: Bubblegum vodka sounds vile. I've never tried it. Zoe you use flavored vodkas in cocktails, so what's your favorite flavor of vodka? - amyJess87
A: I'm partial to anything spicy and/or citrus. My top 3 faves: Grey Goose ®Le Citron, Stoli® Hot, and Belvedere's Pink Grapefruit.
Q: will you do another movie review soon? i really like those - kevin
A: Yes.
Q: can you do a show on celebrities and fame? everyone's obsessed with celebrities and being famous, it might be fun for you all to get into on the show - Beveee041989
A: We touched briefly on fame during last season's movie-themed episode. It could be fun to delve further into fame and how the media influences us during an episode. Kit and Karly, what do you think?
Q: zoe do you speak other languages aside from english? i detect a faint accent sometimes - jakobi
A: I speak 8 languages total; English was my 2nd.
Q: have you considered doing audio books zoe? you said you like them in an interview and you really do have a great voice, i could listen to you forever ;) - Tyler
A: I'm assuming this is not-Kit-Bangles's-Tyler. I am considering doing an audio book in the future - especially now that I know at least one person would download it.
Q: what's the worse pickup line someone ever used on you? - alumshalum
A: It's a toss-up between "You have a body that was made to be raped" and "Damn girl, you make me wanna rape that tight little ass" ...Never use pickup lines involving rape, or you will be punched. Repeatedly.
Q: can we suggest drinks or top five or something for a wicked find, for like a future show? - anonymous
A: Absolutely! Tweet them to us, either @thevodkapress or to our individual accounts (@zoegrimmtvp, @kitbangles, and @karlykingsley).
Q: Zoe better make room on your rocking chair recliner for one more! Loved the Lean In/Lean Back episode. Your parting thoughts were awesome, they resonated with me. - Penny K.
A: Why thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the episode.
Q: Will you do another relationships episode? Or how about one just on dating, for us single fans? You could talk about deal breakers, first impressions, and stuf like that. - Kimberly
A: We'll certainly be discussing relationships again on The Vodka Press, and dating/attraction would be interesting to get into - we'll keep those suggestions in mind.
Q: Who's your dream guest, or guests? Who would you love to someday have on The Vodka Press? - Pat S.
A: I've got a looooooong list of dream guests. To name a few, in no particular order: erotica author/editor Alison Tyler, Ira Glass of This American Life, sexpert Dr. Emily Morse, one or both of the cheeky hosts of The Dinner Party Download, Erin Gibson of Throwing Shade Podcast, the beautiful and talented Soska sisters, and more.
Q: what are longterms goals for the show and blog? and how can we help? - leslie
A: I think we're still trying to flesh out our long term goals, but I will say that 3 things we'd very much like to accomplish in the next 6 months: get recording equipment (mainly mics) so we can improve the audio quality, move our blog/site to a different server so it's more reliable for readers and easier for us to update/maintain, and move our show's audio to somewhere like Libsyn or soundcloud to improve streaming and download speeds for listeners. Overall, we want to produce a better show and blog/site for all of you. We're planning to do a Kickstarter, to (hopefully) help us accomplish that. More to come on that soon...
I thought the Lean in Lean back episode was so good, too. And I second the beer episode idea, that'd be so cool!
ReplyDeleteBeer episode!!! Please do one soon :)
DeleteOh we will, have no fear. I'm actually brainstorming some topic ideas now...
Deleteyeah zoe you owned the leaning in and leaning back episode
ReplyDeletecant wait to hear this weeks episode about fan questions. whats the weirdest question you ever got from a fan zoe?
No question's too weird. I did receive a rather random fan question/comment yesterday, but you'll have to wait until the last Wednesday of this month to find out what it was. (Super long tease, I know!)
DeleteCan we give drink recommendations here, too? ;) Zoe, have you had a Hesitation before? Rye, Punsch, and Bitters. It's phenomenal, you gotta try it if you haven't yet.
ReplyDeleteOh I've had a Hesitation before - it was indeed a phenomenal drink!
DeleteWhen you do a movie review next, can you announce it on both the blog and Twitter? And I have a movie recommendation for you, Brave Miss World. It's supposed to be available on Netflix sometime this month, and it's a great feminist film.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely - I'll post it from The Vodka Press accounts on both twitter and this blog.
DeleteI've heard great things about Brave Miss World; I'm looking forward to watching it on Netflix later this month. Not sure if we'll get to it in an episode of The Vodka Press, but I can always write up a post on it if folks are interested.

DeleteAnd can I just say, I'm really happy that you gals & guys are giving us the questions. It's so much more fun for us this way.
Gah! These are great!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG a Zoe Grimm audiobook would be awesome, please please do one!!
ReplyDeleteI've got some qestions for the TMI too.
What's your favorite romance film or romantic comedy film?
What's one of your nicknames?
What's a hidden talent or skill you have?
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Another future buyer of The Zoe Grimm audio book! ;) The more I think about it, the more in love I am with the idea of doing an audiobook. So yes, this will definitely happen in the future.
DeleteAlso, thanks for the questions.
I just wanna say, you ladies are awesome. The vodka press is my favorite podcast! I think your kickstarter goals are great and I hope you get what you need for the show.
ReplyDeleteI second that :-)
DeleteThanks for the love :)
DeleteThank you! Hearing/reading comments like that really makes us feel like we're on the right track and connecting with our audience (because that's what we want, of course).
DeleteI really liked the fan Q&A episode, thank you so much girls for doing it. I love how you take time to show appreciation and interact with fans, especially you Zoe.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to toss out some questions for the TMI episode (which I think is an awesome idea for an episode, btw).
What's the story behind each of your host names? (Because seriously how does someone come up with Kit Bangles? That's such a cool name.)
On that note, what's the story behind the name The Vodka Press? I know Zoe said Kit came up with the name, but how'd she come up with it? (Kit just comes up with cool names?)
What actress would play you in your life's movie?
And who, if anyone, is your style icon? Or how would you describe your personal style?
I was going to comment on Zoe's drink post too but I'll say it here, I loved the cocktails for this week's episode. I mixed up the Q&A for girls night and my friends were raving about it. Well done!
Zoe's drink recommendations are always awesome but I agree, the Q&A was sooooooooo tasty :)
DeleteThank you, Amanda. We all love you guys and do appreciate you listening in, reading our posts, asking us questions, etc. :)
DeleteThose are awesome questions! (Kit *does* come up with cool names, doesn't she? The girl's got a gift for it.)
And I'm glad both you and Cass liked the Q&A cocktail. :)
Thanks for all the compliments, ladies. So many things to answer in upcoming Eps!!
Deletei wanna ask qeustions for tmi too!!!!
ReplyDeletewhats your fave food?
what was your favorite class in college?
have you ever stolen anything or shoplifted?
name a song thats a guilty pleasure for you.
would you rather be rich or famous?
if you werent doing the vodka press what do you think youd be doing instead?
Great questions, thank you xxxNixxxi!
Deletecan you do a episode on blurred lines? the song, its implications, consent, victim blamign, etc. and did you girls see the hugh jackman, james macavoy, and michael fassbender video where they dance and joke about the song? it kinda irks me that the song gets glamorized still when we all know how rapey it is
ReplyDeleteI think jennygrl5590 has a good idea. As weird as it sounds, an episode on rape in pop culture would be really interesting. Zoe, do you watch GoT? There was the whole rape/not-rape controversy on a recent episode. And there are plenty of instances of rape being downplayed, as there are instances of it being handled well. Not sure though if you ladies want a "rapey" TVP episode... Wouldn't blame you if you didn't!
DeleteNever thought of this kind of episode but now that j and c mentioned it, that would be a great one. But word of advice: don't call it 'the rape episode.' :)
DeleteAre you referring to the bit from the Graham Norton show? I've seen it. (Fassbender looked SO hot. The 'Blurred Lines' bit was stupid, so's Hugh Jackman...fucking Wolverine.)
DeleteA "rapey" episode of The Vodka Press, hmm... I like your ideas to approach it from the angle of pop culture. I do watch GoT, and oh yes I'm well aware of the chatter about the rape controversy. You're right, there are plenty of instances of rape handled well and rape handled 'not so' well to draw from. I'll have to confer with the other TVP ladies and see what they think about it.
Aww Cass, now what am I gonna call it?! ;P
Discussing rape/rape themes in pop culture could be pretty neat. I feel like we'd have to keep it in a pretty tight circle of topics to keep it from getting wild and crazy and a bit too "big," if you get what I mean
