Drink Recipes for Episode #14: Mile High Manhattan and La Vie En Rouge

During EP #14, I recommended the Mile High Manhattan and La Vie En Rogue.

I like to use Grand Marnier in my crème brûlée, but it wasn't until recently that I decided to try it in cocktails. The Mile High Manhattan is a sexy twist on the classic Manhattan, and La Vie En Rogue straddles the line between cool sophistication and warm, festive goodness. Celebrate the weekend, and this week's EP of The Vodka Press, with one (or both) of these cocktails.

  • 4 parts Maker's Mark Bourbon Whisky
  • 1 part vanilla liqueur
  • 1 part Grand Marnier
  • 3 or 4 drops of anise-flavored liqueur

La Vie En Rogue (according to about.com)
  • 1 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
  • 1 1/2 oz. fresh pressed cranberry juice*
  • 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz. simple syrup*
  • Fresh rosemary needles
*Note: If you want to take a shortcut and use bottled cranberry juice, I suggest you skip the simple syrup - unless you like your drinks cloyingly sweet.
